Oc-Eo Art - contemporary Vietnamese fine art
Contemporary Vietnamese painting is a complex coming together of past and present, Vietnam’s cultural inheritance and western aesthetics, politics and revolution, repression and renovation.
Vietnam’s artistic development, accelerated since ‘doi moi’ (renovation) in 1986, when Vietnam opened up to the world, has resulted in the nation’s artists both surprising and delighting those who have sought them out with the freshness of their approach, the breadth of their subject matter, and the quality of their technique.
As a result, Vietnamese contemporary and modern fine art is increasingly desirable and we believe is some of the best value fine art to be collected anywhere in the world.
Oc-Eo Art, specialising in Vietnamese Contemporary Fine Art, in particular contemporary and modern painting, will continue in 2008 where we left off in 2007 by promoting art from both young and established Vietnamese artists as well as, when the opportunity presents itself, exciting work from other Asian artists.
This year, to a collection that already includes leading contemporary Vietnamese artists Nguyen Thanh Binh, Nguyen Than, Dao Thanh Dzuy, Nguyen Bich Ngoc, Bui Suoi Hoa and Nguyen Dieu Thuy (who’s new work, we are delighted to report, is now solely available through Oc-Eo Art), we are adding paintings by Kim Bach, Ho Huu Thu and Le Vuong. Masters respectively of water colour on silk, lacquer on wood and oil on canvas painting, these are three of the most prominent artists of their generation, and a collection of their works will form our first major London exhibition of the year.
Later, we will be bringing a collection of abstract paintings by He Hongwei, an exciting contemporary Chinese artist who is already attracting attention in Beijing.
We are privileged and delighted to be able to share our passion for Vietnamese Contemporary Fine Art. Please contact us through this web-site or by emailing us on info@oc-eo.co.uk for details of any of the paintings, artists or exhibitions you see here, or indeed if you have an interest in any artists that we have not mentioned here. There is an extraordinary wealth of artistic talent in Vietnam, and we can by no means claim to know them all!
